#8 Adrenological /alternative, progressive rock/

Okay, despite the fact I should do something like reggae/hiphop, will post you probably the most listened bands by me in the past couple of years. They definitely rocked my last.fm page quite a lot. Ah, yeah I would classify them as a weird mixture between alternative, progressive and my favourite label - shoegazing (cannot not love that name). Not sure if they actually are related to shoegazing but, cmon - you gotta admit its a fucking cool name for a music genre!

Dredg - saw them live a couple of years ago. Before that I really liked them, now I love them. I really cannot post just a couple of videos so I'm gonna list my top songs. Hope you enjoy them.

dredg - bugeyes
dredg - information
dredg - catch without arms
dredg - zebraskin
dredg - spitshine
dredg - ode to the sun
dredg - hungover on a tuesday
dredg - matroshka

Ok, next are my other favourites - Oceansize. Amazing musicians, and I would definitely kill to see them live. The numbers of songs I would recommend are also quiet a lot, so I'm gonna list some of them. In general, I would advice to listen to the band in a quiet and calm environment, some of their songs are really relaxing and ... sounds funny but...deep (bleah).

Oceansize - Commemorative T-shirt
Oceansize - Trail of fire
Oceansize - Women who love men who love drugs
Oceansize - Savant
Oceansize - Amputee
Oceansize - New pin
Oceansize - Legal teens
Oceansize - Heaven alive

Third, but not last I decided to post a definitely less popular project than the bands above, called Cire. Nevertheless, the two guys are extremely talented.

Cire - Adrenological

Just to write a little conclusion, cause I really care a lot about those bands - in my opinion, everyone, even people who in general do not listen to that kind of music, can find a little piece for themselves in that music. It's all about environment. Anyway, maybe I shouldn't go that poetic. I'm playing adrenological and posting this thing out there.

#7 Halcylon /electro, trance, goa (i think)/

Damn it, it's just a minute after 1 and I feel like I just woke up. Being on vacation totally screwed my biological clock [or whatever you people call it]... ok, I just yawned - I yawned! Hooray, might feel sleepy within an hour. But still - plenty of time for a post(s).

Ok, honestly, I'm listening to Infected Mushroom..and I really wanted to make some lsd/ecstrazy reference, but due to my lack of experience with those stuff I will just post the song.

Around 4:32 I really feel like going crazy. Like.. really crazy...

Okay, since they are basically the only band from that...erm...genre (?!) I listen to, for the time being, I'm not sure how to proceed from now on.... ok the "...." was a pause of 10 minutes, but I finally remembered a song that I rly like... actually that song (and the video) kicks Infected Mushroom in the nuts.. should be at the very top! :)

And another song, I think it was in the top 50 I ever downloaded, so I must have it for like..for around 12-13 years? Anyway, I just read somewhere that this is ... apparently an "acid house". Such an useful information!

I should have sticked to the drum n bass :D Anyway, these are some classic tunes for..the average listener I guess, nothing too... weird/kinky, you know? I guess this will never be exactly my cup of tea, but there are some nice tracks out of the many out there.

#6 Between us and them /indie-rock/

Hm.. didn't want to post today, but I'm so f*cking hangover, I simply do not care/remember why I decided I should take a couple of days off that thingy. Besides, between you and me - I kinda like writing some stuff here. Ok, enough for my 2 sentenses, lets proceed.

Shit, so much stuff to post, and so hard to group them. But I guess today's songs would circle around ...yeah, agian, the so called indie rock, which by the way - ok, i admit there is a typical sound and the bands are recognizable easily, but why the fuck indie. I mean they are supposed to be independed, but now most of them have major record deals and sh*t, you know? I never got that... maybe it's just me.

Next guys, are a weird combination between electro and indie, actually weird = pretty awesome. I saw them live this summer in one of the festivals in NL, was quite pleasantly surprised. Check them out - Daily Bread

Ok, next one is pretty famous, but still - you never know.. so The Virgins - Rich Girls

So many cool things out there, huh? Despite the fact that I feel like posting at least 20 weirdly similar to each other bands, I will cut the indie for the day with The Dead 60's - Riot on the Radio

I wish I could say that was all for the day, but given that its just 16, I cannot trust myself and I might post later, if not because someone is actually checking this thing, then for my own amusement. Cheers!

ps - Martin, this one goes for you - Cold War Kids - Hang me up to dry

#5 woo hoo /pop-indie-rock, cheerful stuff/

Morning y'all! It's an awesome sunny day, quite unusual for NL, but who gives a fuck. It is nice outside, so lets go with the flow - these are some songs which I play when I feel like having a good day (or if I want to point it in that direction).

The type of songs that make you do funny, a bit disturbing moves when you walk outside, but at some point you stop giving a shit (beware, its different than not giving a fuck).

I won't categorize today's songs, some tag them as indie, others as pop-rock, I just like them. And some of them have sax thingies, which is another point of the coolness scale.

ps - you might also wanna check one of the lives of that song

Keep my head from going down! Just for a little, just for a little!

yeah and the last song, ok its not exactly nearly pop but if I ever end up on a high hill above a big city, and it is during the sunrise, I would definitely play that song. It makes me feel epic... cuz we are kings and queens!

Well, I'm finally going out of the bed and I wish you an extraordinary Friday =)

#4 Unreal /trip hop, chill/

Hey, I guess a lots of free time lately so I'll do another post. Its gonna be more in a trip hop, ambient.. in general "chillax" direction I guess, cuz I wish more diversity of the songs I post here, just can't focus in one genre anyway, seems kinda stupid..for now. So, basically if you feel like it, check those stuff.

This video/song is brilliant! The speach in the beginning = uber nice

the song has amazing atmosphere, if I owned a coffee shop, would definitely play that quite often...

#3 Next in Line /alternative rock/

Yeah, next in line for this week goes one of my favourite genres - the vast alternative rock. For me is a bit difficult to make the distinguishment between the various subgenres emerged from it, but in this post I will include some of the (few) prominent bands of the 21st centuries.

Dead Letter Circus - these Australian guys just blew my mind when I discovered them about two years ago. I swear, I was so freakin' happy that day, and now years later I still enjoy them quiet a lot. I think they are the type of band, which even people who usually don't listen to that kind of music would enjoy. I'm gonna put some more songs, I just cannot limit myself to a couple of videos.

Dead Letter Circus - Here We Divide
Dead Letter Circus - The Mile

Ok, I'll just cut to the chase with next band, besides I have nothing really to say about them, except they are pretty cool and they got awesome lyrics. Hope that's enough for you to check some of their songs, listet below.  Ah, yeah - they are called 10 years.

If you are still interested - check this video as well 10 years - Wastelands

edit1 - no, see the last video - wastelands, definitely watch it...

#2 The Iron Tune /electronic music, drum n bass/

Since it's the beginning of the blog and the excitement in me grows progressively to a point when it can be easily called pre-over-excitement, I will probably post quite a lot of stuff.

Anyhow, was wondering where to head to after the nice but quite calm post-rock music, so decided to post some eletronic music. I've been listening to that kind of music since I remember myself, but it has never been my "main" genre so I am definitely far from expert, but... there are some really nice tunes out there I came across through the years. By electronica I mean all sorts of genres, cuz just can't be bothered to separate them into tiny categories (and frankly said - don't think I'm competent enough). =)

One of the first drum and bass artists I came across with, was a finnish guy, that goes by the name of Muffler and I think he was the reason I got a bit more interested in that music. Here are some of his works, which personally I think are awesome (*banging head on Muffler - I go*).

Muffler - Embrace (SPL remix)

p.s.- if you like it, check the original as well

Muffler - Bad Jam

Speak of d'n'b and other similar genres, I cannot go without posting the... State of Mind (another awesome band from New Zealand). I've been heavily abused the "play" button in youtube because of the following track, where by the way I think some Bulgarian traditional voices are used.. or maybe I'm just delusional.

State of mind - Sunking

I like the number three and besides I should keep some stuff for the future (right..? i want u to come back here again, i guess..) so the lucky number position goes to the Dutch Black Sun Empire (cool name, huh?). I also think they got some dubstep stuff, but... more next time.

Many more music like that is about to come, so stay tuned.

#1 The beginning aka "A quiet happiness" /post-rock, ambient/

So, the first post.

I suck with words and will try to keep it short. I started the blog (really hate using that word) because of a certain song I found yesterday, it took my two hours to track it down and finally when I heard the beginning, coming from the lovable youtube I just layed down in my bed and thought "Shit, thats a fucking awesome song, more people should hear it". Actually, I heard to song during a "Californication" episode.. umm..yeah..

Not quite sure if I will group songs with a similar sounding in a post, but that rule might apply for that post. Anyway, the band is called Hammock and they play melodic, ambient post-rock. If you are stressed or about to go to bed - this is your music.

Hammock - Andalusia

Hammock - City in the dust on my window

For those of you who are interested in that type of music I will recommend a couple more bands from that or similar genre. Personally, I find most post-rock bands extremely comforting, the perfect tune during the long study nights.

So lets proceed to Jakob, which I fell in love with long time ago. The three-piece band comes from that lovely place called Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand...

...someday, New Zealand, someday!

It was really hard for me to pick up just a few of their songs, because that band is trully amazing

Jakob - calmrock

Jakob - Nice Day for an Earthquake

After quick thought and even quicker hesitation, I decided that your final dose of post-rock will be Explosions In The Sky.

Explosions In The Sky - Your hand in mine

Well, I won't bore you to death so I think that was enough for a first post. If you got even a slightly more interested in that kind of music, than this place is not as useless as i thought :)
